We actually had our attorney request them and we also asked that all further contact go through the lawyer. It took two requests then we got a response from the society attorney in New York. The letter basically said that these files are not our property. They have since stopped calling to request a meetings with us and as far as I know we have not been disfellowshiped. NMKA

Me and the woman...
by sosoconfused insmoked our first cigar today!.
i know most of you probably see this as a "who cares" moment - but after 13 years of marriage - both of us fading over the last 5 months or so she finally out of nowhere said "i really have always wanted to smoke a cigar!".
i have many times before but it was a first for her.

That is so funny! My husband and I share a cigar now and then now too, guess it is part of the "out" phases you go through! Enjoy! NMKA

Is a slow fade being selfish when you have kids?
by dissonance_resolved inso i got some great advice to take things very slowly with the husband and kids in order to be able to fade and still maintain contact with my parents and siblings.
but today i got a call from my son's teacher that he was having a meltdown because he was worried about all his friends and teachers being destroyed at armageddon.... first i felt like such a schmuck for ever having allowed that thought to enter my son's head, then i thought, is it psychological torture for me not to immediately correct the situation?
i had a long talk with him about how god is perfectly just and full of love and he didn't have to worry about that at all, but it still seemed lukewarm.

After I announced that I was going to stop being a JW to my husband and he took it well, the children and I never attended another meeting ( he went a few times). I guess I never understood the "pull the bandaid off slow vs the pull the bandaid off fast " thing. I knew that my parents, in laws, extended family and "friends" were going to make my life miserable if I slowed down or if I quit all together. By quitting all together I was at least true to myself. My kids and husband almost thank me on a daily basis. We have no contact with my family, they don't even speak to my unbaptised children, my husband has minimal phone contact with his parents. Just my experience, everyone has to do what is right in their situation, all the best!

No fade, just picked a day for it to be my last meeting and announce to my husband that I was out. He went a few more times. A fade seems to prolong a painful death, in the end diehard JW family (like mine ) are not going to do business with you anyway. BTW my kids still tell me that was the best day of their lives! NMKA

My husband and I are able to work harder on our careers when you don't have the constraints of no Saturday, no Sunday, no Tues night, no Thu night blah blah blah. Which means a lot more money. We don't mind working harder because we have time to relax! We go on vacation, we are on vacation right now! Our neighbors are going to join us in a few hours (time for friends) Sitting in a cabin by a lake, oh we have a boat to enjoy too. I went back to college just prior to my fade and I am advancing my edu more starting in Aug. Really time to do everything that I care to make room for. NMKA

do you own a 4wd vehicle?
by Glander inif so, and it's the type that requires you to switch to 4wd, how often do you use that capability?
i know more than a few people with 4wd capability but never use it.
a couple of these folks don't even know what it's for.

I have a Dodge Nitro 4wd now. I have also owned a Ford Expedition and Landrover Discovery all 4wd. Have them because of living in the snow capitol in my state. It helps get through that really deep snow and going up and down big twisty hills in a rural area. Still have to use your head, I don't think it helps with ice at all and I still drive like an old lady in the slow lane on the highway during storms. I love having 4wd but you can't let it make you feel overly confident. NMKA

I was sick (nauseated and morning vomiting) with my pregnancy too. It is a horrible feeling to know you need to nourish this baby but food is gross. With my last one someone had suggested a magnesium supplement in the evening and I think it did help a little. NMKA

by Dudu indid you change the way you dress after leaving the wt?.

I got rid of every flowered skirt, sweater set, coats that were "good for service", boots that were "good for sevice". I spent my 20's and 30's in ankle length skirts, panty hose and enclosed dress shoes......how sad! Also I have not painted my fingernails since I left, just too many bad memories of Saturday night spent studying the tower (underlining) and doing my nails. We have a lot more money to spend on cool clothes for the kids now that we don't have to keep them in suits, sport coats, ties and bookbags, yikes! NMKA
